What we do

Riding with Us

All sessions are led by a qualified RDA coach, supported by a team of trained volunteers. They will assist you with mounting and dismounting the pony and provide you with directions throughout your RDA session.

If you have never ridden before, you will start by being led on the horse with a volunteer in control of the lead rein. There may be volunteers walking either side of you, known as sidewalkers, to ensure you are safe and comfortable.  You may have the opportunity to enjoy a fun session in the arena, to ride out on the beach, the woodland ride or on the hill.

Due to the welfare of the ponies, our maximum weight limit for riders is 12 stone /76kg.

Tea with a Pony

Tea with a Pony is a new RDA initiative to allow those with conditions such as dementia to spend time with our ponies whilst enjoying tea and cake.  One of our volunteers will be able to help with those visitors wishing to meet one of our ponies.

Peaceful Pony

Anyone who is living with a disability may enjoy a Peaceful Pony session with one of our volunteers.  A pony will come and spend time with you.  You may stroke or groom the pony and even help to clean some of the tack if you wish.  This is perfect for a one-to-one session rather than being part of a group session and is more beneficial to some people.
